So far I always shot full metal jacket from my Puma .357mag/.38 (a lever gun I take for granted everybody knows of) and just recently I read in the manual (it's actually a 8½ x 11 sheet folded in half) that it's dangerous to use full metal jacketed ammunition

If so, I'm glad the gun's still in one piece :neener:

But I thought the only problem with FMJ and leverguns was about rifle calibers like the 30-30 since they're pointy and all... So am I really in danger with FMJ .357?

I buy my 357 from the range and they buy them from a guy that reloads em they're federal cartridges thats all i can say and they look just like that:

It looks flat enough on the nose to me to be safe.
I'd say that they make that disclaimer so you don't go stuffing something with too pointed of a nose in your magazine.
Personally, I'd probably use the load you have pictured as long as the bullet nose is wide enough that it can't rest directly against the primer.

But as usual, you're the one using the gun so do what feels best to you.

It would be safe with a flat nose like that.

The .357 doesn't have nearly the recoil of a 30-30, and they don't have that wide a flat-point tip on them.

The only precaution would be if the reloader guy comes up with some full Round Nose FMJ bullets that are shaped like these.
