RRA chrome moly barrel?

I'd spend the money to get a chrome bore and chamber.

Do NOT get the .223 "Wylde" chamber if you're going to be shooting military grade 5.56mm, the chamber will probably be too tight for reliablity.

Honestly, I'd point you towards a Colt, LMT, or the new Charles Daley Defense line.

Chrome Moly is a good compromise between a SS Barrel and a Chrome line Barrel but I prefer chrome lined myself.

Templar you are completely wrong on the Wylde chamber. It is perfectly capable of firing Military grade 5.56, in fact it was specifically made so that it would fire surplus as well as off the shelf .223 rounds.

I've got a hybrid chamber (Not the Wylde chamber officially; but quite close to it) and haven't had that experience myself even though the chamber is not chrome-lined either.

Have you seen a lot of failures of Wylde chambers to feed 5.56 ammo? Were you thinking of .223 target chambers possibly?

Sam,

I'm running three RR's, two with chrome moly bbl's and one with stainless. In my experience, the Wilson CM and SS air gauged barrels are some of the most accurate production barrels out there.

It's aggravating but the three in my stable shoot circles around my pet 6920 and my LMT build.

If you clean them, even occasionally, and avoid extended FA fire under extreme field conditions, they will last as long as any other barrel and may/ should provide improved accuracy as a bonus. Throat errosion is very dependent on who, what, when, where and how much. For civilians it is a non factor, the rifle/ bbl will probably outlast you, given even nominal care.

Enjory the RRA, it's a quality product.

P.S.
On the 'chamber' subject, I concur with Mr. Roberts. I've never witnessed or heard of a Wylde chamber issue.

Chrome is good for longevity and bad for accuracy is how all the old timers tell it. Personally I am not a good enough rifleman to notice the difference in accuracy but I am lazy enough to know I want chrome in any barrel I can get it:D.

P.S. In regards to the 223 Wylde chamber and 5.56 nato rounds, I have shot 1000 rounds of both Federal 5.56 nato and Lake City 5.56 nato through mine and never had issue one. I have never heard not to and was under the impression that the Wylde chamber was designed specifically for that purpose.
