Ruger 22/45 question

So I was looking at this pistol on GB and noticed that the rear pin was sticking way out. What's the deal?

Just a guess but I would bet that someone took it apart and it's not put back together correctly! :what::uhoh:

Looks like one of those silly hex-key replacements for the takedown pin.
Look at the last picture, there appears to be a hex-shaped hollow in the top of the pin, and it isn't shaped like a factory pin.

What you're looking at is a gun from someone who couldn't figure out how to strip or assemble it to the basic cleaning level, and installed an un-needed fastener in place of the factory equipment.

I wouldn't take it unless it was cheap and came with the original mainspring housing attached to the original assembly pin.

So you can buy that part aftermarket to make disassembly easier?
Assuming it is what I think it is, yes ... look up "speed strip".
But stripping is actually pretty easy, all the wailing and gnashing of teeth is from people coming online to whine after one try and no understanding of the internal workings. None of them want to unload their "impossible to re-assemble" guns at a fair price, either.

Hmm, interesting design. Why does it have to be so tall? Couldn't it be the same size as the standard pin?
