I just bought one of these guns and was wondering what some of you with more knowledge could tell me about it? How does it compare to a 357 magnum in power? And also how far this bullet will travel??
Has anyone heard of reliability problems with the Ruger P90 .45s..

I shot it a few times and so far I like it! The recoil is very smooth.as far as accuracy goes I think I need more taget practice or maybe the sights are off!!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated Negative or positive!!!Thanks! drf

Rugers are probably the toughest guns around. They are built like a a tank!
Trying to compare the .45ACP to the .357MAG is like doing apples against oranges!! Each does it's job in the same way!! The only difference is speed and bullet diameter!!
Your sights are not off!! You need to practice more, especally if this is your first handgun or first autoloader. It sounds to me like you have shot a lot of revolvers. The DA/SA trigger of the P90 is way different than the wheelgun!! ;) The P90 has a long DA puul followed by a short light SA pull. It take a little getting use to!! :D
I have a P97 and P95. No problems to speak of, only when I try to shoot to much Wolf ammo The lacquer on the case gums up the chamber and it dosen't feed right!!

ENJOY YOUR RUGER!!!

I,think,you should be satisfied:)

kinda,chunky.function is%100.

mine is more than a coupla years old.

did I mention it was 100% reliable?

I really like the p-90. Picked up a used one last Chrismas. Only got to shoot it once before my wife decided she loved it and it is now hers. It probably has about 1200 rounds through it since then without a single malfunction of any kind.

Nice handgun!

I had a P-90 and the P-97...and found both to be very reliable, durable guns. As mentioned before they are chunky and a tad fat, but they were designed to withstand serious use. And can handle a steady diet of Plus P rounds! That Loooooong trigger was tough getting used too!
My P-90 shot low for me, the P-97 was dead on.
I never had a jam with either one, but ended up trading them....to buy that which fit my hand much better..the 90 went for a 1991A1 Colt Commander(which later became my brother's wedding present!) and the 97 towards a ParaOrd LDA Companion which I carry on duty every day.
Nothing fits my hand better than the 1911!
Ruger's .45's are great guns!!
Enjoy!!

The P-90 was my first handgun. My dad bought it for me when I was 19. (had my carry permit at 18) fine shooter, never had a feeding problem. Tough as hell to carry though, even in the winter. My newest .45 is the SIG 220ST. As for the 45ACP or 357 Mag., both great rounds. .....Whit

Thanks for all the great information and positive feed back to you all!!!drf

P90 is a fine choice!

Like Whit, my first handgun was a P90. I bought it new in '91 with my first National Guard Annual Training (summer camp :D ) check. It has proven itself to be a fun shooter capable of digesting any .45 ammo I fed it. Big and hard to conceal, yes, but a great pistol nonetheless.

I love my P90, and have never had an problems, unless you want to count having to share with hubby when he wants to shoot it. It is a great gun and good accuracy. It was the first .45 that I shot after shooting 9mm and I went from all over the target to having a very nice little grouping. I don't know if it is the gun or me that improved
