Rugers next new product

Maybe. And I hope so. I like Ruger. I liked some Marlins. But for how long would they be profitable. Marlin didn't go broke because they were selling more leverguns than they could even make. I see people whining about the 39. "Bring it back they say" "id buy one" they say.

Marlin made the 39 up until at least 2017. If you wasnt willing to pay for one in 2015 .....what makes them think they would in 2021. If they bring it back it won't sell for 89 bucks like it did when you was a teen......

And people tend to still think of Ruger as a cheaper more affordable brand. But their nice blued and wood guns really aren't that cheap. Price a number 1. Or look at Ruger revolvers prices compared to Smith. They aren't exactly the poor man's model 29/ 617 or whatever. They are pretty close the same price.

Im afraid that all these people squawking about "bring back the xxxxxx" would just balk at the current price.

But im a sucker for hardwood and bluing. So im still hoping

I hope they sell millions of this "new " offering. But it looks a lot like most every other pocket gun to me. Lol

Marion didn't go broke, it's parent company Remington filed for bankruptcy. And that was more to do with massive debt left over from the previous version of Remington and the threat of the lawsuits against Bushmaster

I know. But they didn't sell out to Remington in the first place because they were simply making too much revenue to know what to do with. Remington didn't go bankrupt simply because of the threat of lawsuits. If they were a strong enough company they could absorb it. They had been struggling to begin with due to losing market share and a complete lack of QC from what industry insiders tell us. Personally I never saw any issues, but I only deal with 700s and 870s. It's just like Mopar going bankrupt (several times) when issues came up while Toyota had to buy back 2/3 of the vehicles they sold for 10 years and absorbed that huge loss and became profitable again. The issues were the final push, but being an all but bankrupt and poorly run company to begin with was the cause.

I buy higher end hardwood and deep bluing in rifles and shotguns 90% of the time. Most of my handguns are 226/229/210/p7/HK/old smith's...... etc.

None of those guns sell or would sell enough in this market to keep a company alive. Some are barely made now and some aren't made and none will likely be made in the near future. Not enough people can or will pay for quality. Especially when that quality is cosmetic and not function. A 400 dollar Glock is just as good as functionally as any I named. Better than some. The marlin 39 is a great example. For years people said "I wish they still made those" and I said they do. Call them........ not one owns a Marlin 39. People won't pay a grand for a rifle that FUNCTIONALY is no better than a Henry for 250 bucks And that's coming from an unapologetic Henry company (which has nothing to do with the real Henry) hater. Same for bl-22.

Personally I'd love to see all the wood/ blued guns come back. Id pick up a new 39 and a new 44 mag lever gun at least (so long as it didn't have frigging magpul plastic furniture....) But being in manufacturing for 20 years, installing and maintaining robots, and interacting with people who operate massive companies often enough (once is far too much for most) I know that it would be difficult to make any money. Those products sell. They make money. But they don't sell in enough volume. You can either jack the price up and try to be a "high end" company or you can sell cheaper things to the masses. If Toyota only made the supra they would have gone broke in the 80s. Camry and highlander and rav 4 makes their money. If GM only made the corvette they would fold in a year. If Ford only made the GT, same thing. If Dodge only made the viper..... well they would have been bankrupt, bailed out, bought and sold ten times just like they have been.

Remington didn't go bankrupt because of problems with its products, but mismanagement by ownership that cared nothing about firearms.
Cerberus bought Remington, Marlin, AAC, Bushmaster, DPMS, etc with the intent to make a buck. When Sandy Hook happened, many investors didn't want anything to do with Cerberus or their firearms holdings. Cerberus tried unsuccessfully to find a buyer, bled the companies dry or killed off brands completely before filing bankruptcy.
