got the 10mm bug and saw a very good condition SW 1006 used at my local shop, prie was I think in the high 400s if I remember correctly.

any positive or negatives on this particular model? I don't shoot as often as I like so I won't be putting hundreds of rounds through each week.

other 10mm semi-auto models I was looking at are the 1911 models from Fusion. I would prefer a capacity of at least 8 rounds. Not into Glocks.

Under $500.00 is a very good price for that gun. I paid $650.00 for mine in excellant condition ,I've seen them as high as $1000.00 on the internet, the trigger is not the greatest but they are built to last. The Fusion will cost you almost three times as much, but well worth it.

Not sure how similar a S&W 4006 is to a 1006, but the 4006 is excellent. The 4006 is a 40 caliber all stainless pistol with stainless mags that hold 11 rounds. I assume the 1006 is only different in the caliber...10mm versus 40 cal. If so, it should be every bit as good as the 4006.

The 1006 is a awesome gun. I paid $500 for mine. It had ~300rds, came with night sights, extra grip and 6 mags. The trigger could use some work but the gun is built like a tank. Ive had no malfunctions of any kind. And thats with light loads and Double taps hard hitters. The recoil is hard to describe. It pushes like a 45 but the snap feels like a 357. Its not as bad as people will have you think. I can actually control it more than i could my old Glock 23(40S&W), but i attribute that to it being a Glock.

Great guns, a larger frame and single stack mags when compared to the 40's. Great price as well. Only negative is locating magazines.

I wouldn't mind getting one but my state has said no to importing any new ones from other states. I've always heard good things about them. So my recommendation is to get it. But then again I'm biased because I have the 10mm bug too.

Very nice gun, nice price. I have one.

I prefer the Glock 20: more rounds, and the plastic frame and lower bore axis seems to deliver less felt recoil to my hand.

But I take the 1006 out regularly and it's great.

I have a 1076 and love it. I want to pick up a 4006.

I wish S&W would bring back the 1000 series, maybe in pakerized or matte black finish...

For that price, I'll repeat the general calls for you to snap it up!

But that deal aside, if I were looking for a 10mm (and I'm likely to be on the lookout in the near future, if I know myself as well as I think I do)...

Those Fusions look BEAUTIFUL. 10mm being an uncommon caliber to begin with, and with myself already owning both .45s and 9mms, I would definitely go for one if I were to come across the money for one.

I don't really have anything against Glocks, from a design standpoint. And I've seen people shoot incredibly well with them, so I can't really say they're unergonomic. They're accurate, reliable, and affordable when it comes to the 10mm market. But the grip just really isn't for me. I know I just said that there are people who can shoot amazingly well with a Glock, but I am most certainly not one of them. If I were to purchase one, I'd end up having to get a CCF race frame with 1911 grip angle for it, and that pretty much takes out the entire 'affordable' aspect.

S&W would be my first choice for a practical 10mm shooter, depending on the deal I could get for it. I have yet to hear of a 10mm with a better reputation for accuracy, reliability, and durability. (some of the handloads that people describe putting through them just make me cringe to hear it, but these individuals have yet to damage their weapon!)

But if I were to buy a 10mm, for the purpose of commonly shooting 10mm rounds, and to buy one new, as opposed to looking for a good deal on gunbroker...

I'd say it'd have to be a Witness Full Size in 10mm. Great price, large magazine capacity, generally reliable. I haven't actually fired the 10mm one, but the .40 one I tried was very easy-recoiling, much more so than I had expected from a typical steel-framed pistol design.
