S&W MP .40 Problem

I have not witnessed this problem. A friend at work was telling about an issue he was having with his MP .40 over the weekend.

He stated he would fire the weapon and approximately every 3 or 4 rounds the magazine would fall out. He stated he tried several different mags, tried to pull them out manually and even fired the weapon paying close attention to keep his fingers clear of the mag release. The weapon would fire a few times and the magazine would fall out.

Has anyone had this problem with the MP?

Yes.

He needs to contact S&W and have the mag catch replaced. They'll do it free of charge. It is a known issue with early M&Ps, especially M&P Compacts.

This was the only issue I had with my M&P then overnighted me a new mag catch and some extra goodies as well.
