I found a great deal on a Ranger .22 pump, only to discover that its cartridge stop was missing. After researching for quite a while, I found a post from 2009 on another forum, and this tidbit of information was made known to me.

The cartridge stop can be replaced with a 3/16" ball bearing.
I have also read lots (and LOTS) of posts about the cartridge stop being lost from this take-down rifle, and for obvious reasons.

So, while my rifle was gathering dust at the gunsmith's shop, I found this bit of info and called them to try the ball bearing replacement for the 'stop'. It worked! And, when my rifle was reassembled, it operated normally.

I wanted to share this information, in case any of our forum members might have the same rifle (Savage 29B, or Sears Ranger), so maybe you can get it up and running again.

I have one, was my grandfather's, I believe he purchased it in 1925. Great shooting little .22
