savage/anschutz 1415/16?

Saw this the other day in the gun shop. .22lr, looked to be in good shape. Haven't been able to find much info about them online. Are they good rifles? Price was a hair under $500.


....hmm. I did find something. Looks like this was a savage model 65 imported by anschutz.... looks like $500 might be optimistic.

They are extrordinary rifles and the savage actually has better wood. If it is perfect easily worth $500. A Savage model 65 is NOT an Anshutz tho. It will say so on the barrel if made in Germany ect.

Gordon- thanks The one I was looking at didn't look like that one though. It looked just like a savage model 65. I'm seeing that there were two types here- a Anschutz Savage and a Savage Anschutz. The former seems to be Savage's offering for Anschutz (model 65) and the latter Anschutz's offering for Savage.

Can't speak for the Savage Anschutz pictured but have a Savage Anschutz Match 64 Model that I really like and enjoy shooting. Actually the rifle is on indefinite loan from my sister.

Any of the Savage Anschutz rifles I have had the pleasure of shooting have been great accurate rifles and fun to shoot.

A Savage Anschutz is an Anschutz that was distributed by Savage in the US.

OTOH An Anschutz Savage is a Savage that was distributed by Anschutz in Europe.
