savage mark 2 tr vs 10/22 target

which would you pick? the stock on the savage feels so perfect, and it has the accutrigger and fluted bull barrel i know it would be accurate, but the bolt feels so crappy and cheap compared to a cz or 77/22, and ive always had problems with savages but always very accurate, now the 10/22 stock doesnt fit quite as good trigger worse, and probably less accurate, but its semi and feels more quality, they are the same price. which ever one will get a nikon 4x prostaff

I have the TR and so am partial to it. Took it out to 100yards today and even without the barrel really being broken in it held MOA. THE BOLT GETS MUCH BETTER! I sped up the process by lapping it in withFlitz

I really really like my mark 2. maybe 3kish rounds down the barrel. Never had any problems with it whatsoever.

Nice little rifle and it shoots great.

In that price range the only gun I would consider besides the Savage would be a CZ 452 Varmint.

i have a bolt action and semi marlin, they shoot pretty good but i want a more adult feeling gun

A picture of my Savage mark II bv pre accu-trigger. Even with a cheap tasco scope on it. The gun is a shooter 1/2" groups at 50 yards with CCI mini-mags. I have taken multiple praire dogs out to 125 yards with it. The rifle has had thousands of rounds through it. No problem other than Savage needs to beef up their magazine springs. It may have one failure to feed out of every couple hundred rounds. I could count misfires on one hand out of 3k+ rounds down range.

A buddy has a gun just like that one above only his has a higher power Tasco. I want to think 8-32. I love that rifle and wish I had one. That's one sweet rifle.

If I wanted a more adult feeling gun, it would be a CZ 455 American.

I'm a huge fan of the Savage MKII. The other commenters are correct about the bolt getting much better after you've put a couple of bricks through it. Heck, it improved 100% after I got mine home from the shop and cleaned and lubed it.

If I didn't already have a MKII JTV, I'd be getting the TR model.

Really a fine rifle.

Add to that, I'm not much a 10/22 fan. I prefer Marlin's semi-auto rimfires. A 795 will be my next rimfire, once I get the wrinkles out of the non-functioning Glenfield 75 I was given recently.

The bolt on the savage will get much smoother and slicker with use and some judicious lubrication. You want to use a good grease, NOT,oil on the bolt. The rifle fits,it feels good on the sholder,and the sights work for you. Get the savage. Ihave CZ's and love them,but as they say ,a mans got to do..................

In the light weight variety of .22's my Rossi 62a copy of the Winchester 62 pump action is a hoot. i don't think it weighs more than 3# or so and is dead accurate. The Rossi is more accurate than my original Winchester as a matter of fact.
