My brother just got an Armalite AR-50. He's pretty much decided on the 8-32 Nightforce NXS with their NP-R2 reticle and is trying to decide between the 15 and 50 minute bases offered by Armalite. He said he wanted the D.D Ross rings but they aren't offered on Armalite's or D.D Ross's website. He said he originally found them in Brownells but my copy of their catelog doesn't list them and I couldn't find them on their website either. I am wondering if you guys know where I can find these rings or barring that, if you have any suggestions for suitable alternatives.

I use the Leupold Mk-IV rings in super high on my AR-50 with the NF scope, never had it move. If he doesn't want to spend a fortune he could look into the new Burris rings, they look just like Badger Ord. Max 50 rings. What they don't have is the Badger price, I think they run about $40. Plus he'll probably have a better chance of finding them in stock.

How long of a range does he have access to? The 8-32 only has 65 total MOA, so that means about 32 up/32 down. He would more then likely need the 50 MOA rail to get out to 1000 yards. Where the 5.5-22x56mm has 100 MOA, he could stick with the 15 MOA rail and still shoot out to 1000 yards.

With the included 15 MOA base and the 8-32 Nightforce our exterior ballistics is showing him good out past 1200 yards. The program is showing 45 MOA of total drop at 1400 and he has 47 to play with.

Thanks for the info on rings. I'll pass the news along.
