Should I bed my Savage?

In the words of my daughter...

"That just sounds wrong!"

In my words, try the accuracy. If it is acceptable, fine as is. If it is unreliable and shifts, pillar-bed the action.

Anyone else here remember reading the old WWI poem, "Naming of Parts"? Somehow it seems to fit the undertone of this thread. :)

I don't know how much money you want to dump into the project but I would consider a new stock.

Some years back I reinforced the stock forend on a Savage 110FP. It has the stock black synthetic stock.
The ribs were notched out on top, deep enogh to lay a small block V8 pushrod in (free) so that the pushrod was below the upper surface of the ribs. Then the voids were filled in with Steel Bed and JB Weld, aking sure the rod was covered. Reoil lug and action were also bedded.
The JB Weld was used because the action and lug were bedded first with Steel Bed and I came up short filling the forend voids.

Wow . .that paint job looks pretty nice. (I'm impressed!)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. If it was as simple as buying a B&C stock I would but unfortunately they don't make a lefty version. I do have a few carbon fiber arrow shafts laying around though. (some idiot missed the mark and broke them . . . .oh yeah . .it was me. )

Have a good one,
Dave

Dave,

You can easily convert a B&C to left hand. This was a right hand Duramaxx that I used a dremel on to cut the left hand bolt cut. The right hand cut is still there but you could easily close it up with marine tex or some other product and then paint over. You can do the same with the Carbelite as well.
