Sierra reload data

If you have a Sierra Bullet reload manual would you look under their .224 (.223 Rem) 52 grn MatchKing HPBT and tell me what they say is the most accurate load using H335. I think it is 26.9, but I want to be sure.

If I had it I'd be glad to share, but isn't the info available on their internet sight? I get virtually all my loading data from powder and bullet manufacturer sites anymore. Don't even own a manual. Maybeso Sierra doesn't have one, but worth a look if you need the info.

If you email Sierra and ask about load data for a specific bullet they will send you a PDF file with load data for that cartridge. You can get Hodgdon data online. Personally, I"d just use Hodgdon data.

Accuracy load is 26.9gr H335 for a bolt action using the 52gr match Sierra #1410 hpbt Take note that the test rifle is a Rem. M600 w/24"bbl. This model was a short barrel, 18-20" from the factory in the 60's, so its a custom barrel now. The accuracy load means nothing unless you are the owner of that rifle. There is a different accuracy load for an auto. loading rifle.

No, powder manufacturers have free Internet data, while Most bullet manufactures do not. You can always find some bits and pieces of bullet manufactures load data, but never the full blown data on "their" site.

One should always have two or three real reloading manuals to back check data found in other places.

Thanks, what a great web site! For info, I am getting 3440 +/-10 fps with the 1410 bullet and 26.9 H335 in my Rem 700 VLS with a 26" barrel. That is probably about right for this barrel length. Accuracy (3/8" group) starts going away after 15 rounds or so (about 1 minute intervals) and doesn't come back until I go home and clean the barrel. I don't know if it is barrel heating or bore fouling causing the problem. Tomorrow I am taking my cleaning gear to the range. When the groups start to open out I will let the barrel cool for ten minutes and then try again. If that doesn't work I will try cleaning the bore. It is a little frustrating

How quickly are you shooting those 15 rounds? I rarely shoot any center fire more than 5 times without letting it cool for 10+ minutes, and if I'm out to measure some high degree of accuracy, I wait 2 minutes between shots, then pause 10 or so minutes after 5 or 6 shots max. To get that barrel to cool in hot sunny weather, one is wise to stand it upright in shade. Sitting horizontal in the sun, it won't cool much.

Might be considered foolish not to have a load manual, but it has seemed to work out for the past 49 years, at least for me.
