I just recently participated in a GrayGun's Practical Fundamentals class. A friend of mine was shooting his 220ST and the magazines would fail to drop free when the magazines were some what charged (4-5 rounds). It would drop part way and you would have to pull the magazine out before you could reload it. It appeared that the top round on the mag would move slightly forward after the first round was chambered causing the round to drag in the mag well and now allowing the magazine to drop.

I went home and tried the same drill with my 220ST using snap caps and had the same problem.

Is this consistent with 220STs?

Thanks

yeah mine does that.

actually i have the older model p220st and the newer railed model p220st. they both do that. i guess it could be beneficial if you are in a firefight, and accidently release the mag, it won't fall out of the gun, and you can just re-seat it. i doubt it was designed that way though.

on another note, could you reply to this thread 45R? it would help me greatly: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=162652

The mag not dropping out feature is a pain in the butt when shooting the pistol during a class. You can't just drop the mag to reload. You have to pull that sucker out and stuff a new mag in.

The magazines on my Sig 220ST drop free. I believe that trigger bar spring can move out of position and drag on the magazine, keeping it from dropping free.

It is normal. The next round moves forward slightly causing the mag to hang up a bit. I believe SIG has fixed the issue with the new 10 round magazines so my guess is they will be putting that fix in the standard 7-8 rounders.
