Been thinking about getting one of these, and saw this one, supposedly with a factory nickel finish. Probably one of the last batch of these to be marked "West Germany", but I was wondering if any of the Sig/Sauer experts on here could comment on the prevalence of "factory nickel finish" on these guns.

They are uncommon and go for a lot of money IF in pristine/unfired factory condition AND with factory box verifying nickel P228 and test target.

The one in the link looks way over priced to me based on condition IF it is actually a factory nickel P228.

The only way I know for sure to tell is to get one that comes with the factory original case/box that has a serial number that matches the serial number of the P228 in question and the box indicates factory nickel model unaltered. Another way could be to call SIG with the serial number to see if they will provide you with any info on that specific serial number.

Beware that there are aftermarket refinished P228s being sold as factory finished nickel P228s.

That seller is on crack as far as I'm concerned. If it was ANIB that price would still be way high. Good God, if you're asking $2K for a pistol at least take two minutes to wipe the filth off it.

No box, no papers, no provenance, not close to pristine ... this item's asking price is waaay out of line IMHO. Factory nickel p228s are not too common. I have one with a factory nickel slide - this two tone config is more common than the all nickel config ... then again I paid 25%-30% of this GB asking price.
