Hello, I should start by disclosing that I have recently ordered a SIG SP 2022 in 9mm, so this is not a " what should I buy?" thread. That ship has sailed, so to speak. However, prior to my decision I strongly considered the FNX as well. In my mind these pistols occupy similar postions with regard to construction, features and price point. I'm interested if anyone else has chosen between these two and if so, how did you come to your decision? After handling and researching both I went with the sig mainly due to the way the new small backstrap fit my hand and the fact that it's $400 price point was ridiculously low for the quality I perceived.

Congrats on ordering you new pistol. :) Hope you enjoy it.

I recently got an FNX-9 and like it a lot, although I had not considered the 2022. Not sure why. I've got a 229. Maybe I was just looking for something different. Anyway I'm loving the FNX trigger and the light weight of the pistol.

Edited to add: Welcome to the forum.

I own the SP2022 and the FNP-USG.

Both are quality pistols and at the $400 level reperesent a lot of value for the money. I have found that the trigger on the Sig is more to my liking. It is a bit long but smoother. The FN trigger is stiff but both break cleanly. I also find the SA triger on the Sig to be crisper. The FN is a little mushy.

Not that the FN is bad in fact it is a great shooter I just think the Sig is a little more refined.

The big plus for the FN is the thumb safety and the ability to carry cocked and locked.

I have not tried the FNP even to dry fire. But I really am liking the FNX in SA mode. I had gone out the buy the M&P Pro but didn't like the trigger on that at all. Then I tried the FNX and loved it in SA.

I just got the FNX-9. I was going between the Sig SP2022, Beretta PX4 Storm, and the FNX-9. I jumped on a NIB FNX for $500 at a local gunshow. I did find the beretta for $475, but the $20 difference was hard to pass up.

I went with the FN mostly for its lightweight and safety/decocker features. Nice to carry a round chambered and not cocked. Ambi controls are a plus even though I am a righty. Trigger pull is clean on the FN.

I may still pick up a Sig, But i am leaning towards the P250 subcompact or the P290 for CCW.

Both are high quality guns

The FN is a little mushy.

This ^ is 100% accurate, but........

I normally prefer SA firearms (BHP, 1911,), but for some odd reason I shoot my FNP 45 (USG) in SA much better than the spongy trigger should allow. I can shoot it as well as any pistol I own; actually it's a tie between it and my BHP for what I shoot the best.

Love the mushy trigger I guess?

The 2022 is a real sleeper for Sig. I recently shot my son-in-laws 2022 and was impressed. Excellent trigger IMHO. It shot better than my 229 in 9mm and cost less. Enjoy the platform. :)
