I let a friend borrow my Sig 239. He said the trigger moved all the way back, and the gun did not fire.

He's a newbie to auto's, so I can't credit his story completely. Has anyone else ever had such a malfuction with a Sig?

I have't fire 50 rounds it it yet, but is seems to be the bees knees for me!:p

Did he actually pull the trigger past the point of no return, or merely move the hammer back and fail to complete the trigger cycle?

I suspect that he did something wrong. Take him shooting with you. Have him duplicate the malfunction. That should be very revealing.

Sounds like he didn't let the trigger reset after firing a round. The reset on the DA/SA Sigs is a little longer than some and sometimes I've even done this.

My thoughts exactly! Tell him to listen for the "click" as he releases the trigger after a shot. (Or just take his finger completely off the thing.)

IMO, it sounds as if the slide/barrel was svery slightly out of battery.

There's a trigger-reset spring inside the grip panel on the right-hand side. If he took the grips off while cleaning and dislodged that, it could explain the problem. It's easy enough to put back on. The symptom would be a trigger that just floats.

I had that problem once when I reassembled my 220 incorrectly. One round would fire just fine -- the action would cycle, and the trigger would not reset. Turned out to be a couple of bone-headed things working together.

Sig fixed my error and overnighted the 220 back to me, free. They also replaced my mangled mag release button spring cover panel free. One of the reasons Sig is great for me...
