Some stats on Rampage Killings throughout history

A page in history is worth a volume of logic. So I've been reading up on rampage killers. I know I'm barely scratching the surface, but I thought I'd share:

Point #1: Of the top 15 school shootings, only 1 killer was shot by police.
Point #2: Almost all of the school killers committed suicide, many at the first sign of resistance.
Point #2: Fire & Bombs seems to be the best weapon for mass killing... by a HUGE margin.
Point #3: Delayed response time from "good guys" & lack of escape route seems to be one of the biggest indicators of how many people will die
Point #4: USA's best "assault weapon" killer can't get half as many kills as a guy from the Congo with rope & bolt action rifle
Point #5: USA's best "assault weapon" killer can't beat a machette or Bolo in Southeast Asia.
Point #6: Handguns seem pretty effective when compared to assault weapons as tools for a murder rampage. Heck, they still hold the crown for firearms in the USA.

Okay, I see you are heavily using Wiki which does not include a lot of information.

Yes, police often hesitate to shoot into schools where there are children.

Point #2: Almost all of the school killers committed suicide, many at the first sign of resistance.

While most may have committed suicide, at was not at the first sign of resistence. Resistence starts with the first person who tries to evade being harmed. They don't even necessarily commit suicide at the first sign of armed resistence. They do all seem to have exit plans, however, that involve not being taken alive, but many fight or evade so long as they believe it is reasonable to do so while still avoiding being taken alive.

Point #3: Delayed response time from "good guys" & lack of escape route seems to be one of the biggest indicators of how many people will die

Prior to cell phones and even prior to 911 (or similar #s in other countries), responses were often delayed in the US due to a delay in notification. After 911 and cell phones, response is often immediate, or certainly as quick as responding officers can be dispatched, but response times are what is situationally slow, but not the response itself.

Lack of escape routes is a bit misleading as well. Often folks have plenty of escape routes, but fail to utilize them. Based on the incidents I have read, the problem isn't a lack of escape routes, but a lack of trying to escape or failure to use available routes.

Obviously you mean as single incidents, not as a whole or as frequency of attacks.

Your Congo data are in error. You are referring to Peter Unek. He didn't kill 57 in the Congo. He killed 21 there. So yeah, we have him beat with the assault rifle category. Sorry. In a separate incident he killed another 36. I am not sure what rope you are talking about per se, but if he used it to kill, it was only 1. He used an ax to kill 21 in the Congo before escaping. The second incident was in Tanganyika. He used a stolen rifle, ax, strangulation (just one person), stabbing, and fire to kill 36 people.
Point #6: Handguns seem pretty effective when compared to assault weapons as tools for a murder rampage. Heck, they still hold the crown for firearms in the USA.

Yes I heavily used wiki. I also read a bunch of old articles to grab info not on wikipedia.
