Trigger Happy
by "Weird Al" Yankovic

Got an AK-47, well you know it makes me feel alright
Got an Uzi by my pillow, helps me sleep a little better at night
There's no feeling any greater
Than to shoot first and ask questions later
Now I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

Well, you can't take my guns away, I got a constitutional right
Yeah, I gotta be ready if the Commies attack us tonight
I'll blow their brains out with my Smith and Wesson
That ought to teach them all a darn good lesson
Now I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I'm so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I'm gonna have to blow you away

Oh, I accidently shot daddy last night in the den
I mistook him in the dark for a drug-crazed Nazi again
Now why'd you have to get so mad?
It was just a lousy flesh wound, Dad
You know, I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

Oh, I still haven't figured out the safety on my rifle yet
Little Fluffy took a round, better take him to the vet
I filled that kitty cat so full of lead
We'll have to use him for a pencil instead
Well, I'm so trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I'm so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I'm gonna have to blow you away

Come on and grab your ammo
What have you got to lose?
We'll all get liquored up
And shoot at anything that moves

Got a brand new semi-automatic weapon with a laser sight
Oh, I'm prayin' somebody tries to break in here tonight
I always keep a Magnum in my trunk
You better ask yourself, do you feel lucky, punk?
Because I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I'm so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I'm gonna have to blow you away

My daughter is a big Weird Al fan. After I heard the first four lyrics of this song, I forbid her from ever playing it in my house again. I don't remember which album it's on, but I think it's one of the newer ones (correct me if I'm wrong) she took back because it was so filthy. We just stick with the old 80's stuff of his.

There's about every Brady bunch cliche about gun owners in there. Just another hack voicing their vapid opinion. :fire:

Wierd Al deals in caricatures.... but about the newer stuff being filthy, that's a sad shame, though I haven't heard any of it.

thanks for the clarification. It must be the most recent one that I'm referring to as filthy, because of a song about the Jerry Springer show containing some vulgarities and disgusting themes, including beastiality. Now I'm no prude, and I realize that what is filthy to one may be perfectly fine to another, but I'm talking about what my 10 year old is allowed to hear, and that just won't fly in my house. I havn't had any problem with the older stuff, save for the "trigger happy" nonsense.

Another good reason to "pre-approve" your kids' new CD's. ;)

Personally, I think that's darn funny. One of the things I've always liked about Al is that he's equal opportunity. He pokes fun at everyone.
If he's developed a potty mouth though, that's a darn shame.
We shouldn't take ourselves too seriously.
Especially seeeing as how it's Weird Al. He's hardly someone folks use as a factual source of information.

Ironically, this is the song that changed my mind about gun control! I saw it more poking fun of the gun-grabbers, by 'over-characterizing' the group, to the point of rediculousness. I realized that noone was really like the song, and it really pointed out the outragousness of the gun-grabber point!

As for his CD's, the one Running with Scissors has the Jerry Springer song, which is somewhat crude, but the rest are great songs.

Every once in a while he pushes the limit, but he still doesnt use swearing, etc.

Running with Scissors!!!!!

ohnoes, now kids are gonna read that and do it in school. We must ban this now as it has no useful purpose in society.

Its for the children!!

He really does poke fun at everyone... no need to take it personally. :)

Puts on one heck of a show, too!

I thought this thread was going to be about the rapper, Spice1.

He has a song from the 90s called "Trigger Happy"

I just listened to it again. He mentions many different brands of guns and calibers, etc.

Some of the things mentioned: Ruger, Glock, Mossberg, Mac-10, Beretta, Tec-9, .22, .357, .380, Smith & Wesson, AK, hollow tips, Colt .45, snub nose, 9mm, AR-15, Desert Eagle, street sweeper, etc.

A lot of his stuff is very gun oriented.

What song is he patronizing or is this an original.

It's a surf rock tune done in the style of the Beach Boys. Don't think it's a direct parody of one specific song, however.

For any interested, here's the Jerry Springer lyrics. I could see how some may consider them in poor taste, but there's no words on there you wouldn't see on network TV these days (for better or worse).

It's an original of his. I had a friend that had a four CD collection of some of his older stuff, and they had stuff on each song. This one was supposed to be pro-control. Sounds like he kind of missed it though.

I am a huge Weird Al fan and I love Trigger Happy. If he was trying to be Pro control, I beleive he needs a rewrite. I have seen him in concert as well and he is great.

I don't have the song handy to check, but I could swear that it is done to the tune of "Surfin' USA," by the Beach Boys. Of course, it's been a long time since I've heard the song, so I might be wrong.

Back when I was toying with P2P music transfers (before I saw the light, AND the litigation) I saw numerous parody/comedy songs that were absolutely filthy and attributed to Weird Al. Ultimately, they weren't, they were just mislabeled.

No reason to be upset by it if it doesn't apply to you. You can't deny that there are some folks (and maybe some who post here :uhoh: ) who are pretty accurately described there.

I think it's funny. The bit about the Commies sure is true if reading firearms boards has taught me anything! :)

Slugs, I think you'd find the song pretty funny if you listened to it a few times. It's so far over the top that it comes arounds the other side.

The first time I heard "Trigger Happy", I thought instantly of my uncle and cousins. They are very responsible gun owners but they never saw a firearm they didn't "need" for one contingency or another.

Weird Al usually rocks.
