I'm looking at a SP101 or Smith&Wesson 60 for concealed carry. I've owned a 3 inch 60 before and stupidly sold it. My reason for the 3 inch barrel was I thought they have a longer ejector rod over a snubnose. But looking at the SP101 online it looks like both models have the same length ejector rod. Is this the case? If so, how does it compare to the 2in and 3in Smith models?
Thanks,
Matthew

I don't have a 3" SP or either one of the two Smith's in question, however I do have the 2.25" SP101 and have never had a problem ejecting spent cartridges from it. I doubt there would be much difference in ejecting between either of the four guns. I've seen 4" S&W's that if you were careless would bugger up in ejection of spents. If you're ever in a defensive situation and fire more than five rounds fo .357, you need more gun or better aim. LOL :what: I know that this doesn't exactly answer your question but no one else answered you, but I didn't charge you anything either.

get the 3" sp101 and enjoy it. i want one, but will have to live vicariously through you until then.

never heard of any problems ejecting shells. keep the cylinders nice and polished (not lubed), and you will be fine.

Because the SP101's barrel is longer than S&W J-frames (2 1/4" vs. 1 7/8" for .38 Spl or 2 1/8" for some .357 Mag. J-frames), and does not need the ejector rod as a front cylinder locking point, it is sufficiently long to start with. I had no problems with case ejection on my 2 1/4" SP.

That is what I was starting suspect, the SP101 rod looks to be longer than a J frame 38 snub no matter what barrel size.

Thanks everyone
