I got the idea from a site known as The Best Page in the Universe, in an update about vegeterianism. I added my firearms twist. Find someone you know, who's antigun and gives you a hard time for being a gun owner. Then, buy three guns or make your collection a minimum of at least three guns. There, you just made his/her antigun eclipsed by the fact that you bought more guns just because of their ignorance, amounting to a pointless arguement on their part. Why three? You want a gun for you, a gun for them, and another gun to tip the scales in being armed and an active shooter even more in our favor. It's flawless! As long as you yourself can legally own and buy guns, this plan is foolproof. Have enough guns already? Buy 3,000rds (or 3 cases) of ammo. In this way it makes it worse for their cause, wanting to ban firearms, because you wouldn't have bought more if they had jumped on the anti bandwagon. What do y'all think?

I've already sponsored 4 people in guns alone. And I still have a bunch of ammo I could count and add to it.

I bet you will see a surge in gun sales before long. For myself, they are going to be perfectly legal private transactions - know what I mean, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

I intend to make sure that I have ALL the gear I need to keep a firearm operational for a long time. Hint.

Send them spam...hehehe I like the idea, I think I will pose it to one or two of the anti's that I know see what they think, I will tell them " Your anti-gun stance has caused me to purchase more firearms and ammunition along with other gun supplies."

extra points for an evil, scary looking gun. If you buy just 3 yugo sks rifles, you're all set.

IRT Maddox's "Best Page in the Universe", I've been meaning to post a call for a SLC-area THRperson to take the man shooting.

Maddox is a pretty caustic humorist, but seems a decent guy overall. I think he'd enjoy an activity like shooting, and every article he writes gets about 1.5 million hits...

So, how many people has everyone sponsroed? Anybody know any interesting ways to spread this idea around?

I love maddox.

I'm totally in. In fact, as of last week, I officially sponsor exactly 1 anti-gun person (and counting)

Update on my sponsoring program

A coworker and I had a very heated discussion while on lunch last night. According to him, "we Americans have too many freedoms in this country, our gun laws are too lax, people can choose to do things that offend other people, etc." I need a special sponsor idea for a special case. I told him, "I'm going to use my rights that I have too many of and get myself a CCW Permit." He responded by stating he was going to petition my applying. "Oh, that's right, now I remember." I said to him, "Michigan is a must issue state. If you complete the CCW course, they can not deny you the permit. How does it feel to be owned? Permanently." He responded with the old, "I'll find some way to stop you from carrying".

Wow, and to think, I was going to hold off on getting a CCW permit. Some people shouldn't argue with me.

I read a statistic that in 1994, 44 million americans owned 192 million guns. (http://www.ncjrs.gov/txtfiles/165476.txt). Well, the population just passed 300 million. That means every gun owner needs to buy 2-3 more guns. After that benchmark is reached, we can starts tackling the world's lack of guns(In good hands, of course) Europe's going to be tough, but we can do it! 50Cal123, I'm with you all the way. I plan to sponser anti's my whole life, even if it mean finacial sacrifices:D

COMBAT OR PRACTICAL SHOOTING WITH PUMP-ACTION SHOTGUNS
BACKGROUND

The history of this "sport" appears to begin in the 1930s with the advent of combat pistol courses for the FBI. These courses departed from conventional bullseye shooting and sought to impart tactical skills and the realistic use of the handgun. They were intended to improve the combat capability of the military and security services and it was only in the 1950s that groups like the Bear Valley Gunslingers of California were established with the avowed purpose of introducing realism and variety into sporting pistol shooting.

The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) was founded at the International Combat Pistol Conference held in Columbia in May 1976. The word "Combat" was dropped in recognition of the fact that even in the USA it was seen as politically incorrect and offensive. However, nothing else changed and the IPSC is today arguably the world's most popular method of training military, paramilitary, police and civilians to shoot fellow human beings in close quarters combat. It is working hard to attain Olympic recognition and is the fastest growing of all the shooting disciplines. The more respectable it is, the more difficult it becomes to ban the weapons involved. In the USA it is seen as one of the strongest bulwarks against the banning of semi-automatic firearms and in the UK it offers the main legitimate opportunity to use pump action shotguns.

On the sensitive question of targets, the IPSC is moving away from the traditional humanoid target towards a new "Classic" target. In response to criticisms from devotees of the old system, Nick Alexakos, President of the IPSC recently wrote

"A common misconception is that the proposed target is `headless'. Not so. The Classic has all the same features as the current target. It can `peek' over or around walls. It can be used in exactly the same manner as the current target . . ."

THE CASE FOR A BAN ON COMBAT OR PRACTICAL SHOOTING

1. There is understandable public revulsion to an activity which so clearly encourages participants to develop their killing skills in realistic situations and which may feed the fantasies of socially inadequate or unstable people. Courses of fire or stages are designed to resemble the fantasy of the day such as "Save the Bank", "the Bodyguard", "House Clearance", "Carjacked by Gang Members", "Cartel House Raid".

2. As a weapon, the pump action shotgun is unacceptably dangerous. It is associated in the public mind with violent crime and gang warfare. It serves no legitimate purpose in civil society.

3. The fact that "practical" shooting is the fastest growing shooting "sport" internationally is in itself a cause for concern. In post-conflict areas of the world where extensive proliferation of combat weapons threatens the stability of civil society, the presence of a regional branch of the IPSC can serve only to fuel violence and lawlessness. Other countries now look to the UK as a source of inspiration for its tight gun controls and we have a responsibility to lead the way by banning this sort of shooting. In addition, we should do all we can to ensure that it never becomes an Olympic sport as it clearly contravenes the sporting ideals associated with the Olympic movement.

If the antis bothered to research the topic properly, they would see that repeating shotguns, are essential,in the UK.They should try their local shooting grounds or practical shotgun grounds.
