Can't wait for a 9mm with 7-8 rounds in the mag, would make a great CCW.

Until then I'm thinking about trying out a PPS.
Exactly. The mini-glocks have had the polymer CCW market owned for a while. Not to say there aren't a boatload of great choices from other manufacturers, but in my CCW class it seemed everyone had a mini-glock as one of the guns on their CCW card. Regardless of whether or not it was what they carried everyday

When you eliminate a popular handgun model single-stack .45s(G36) by making broad statements that it does not exist, it has nothing to do with me "taking things personal".

It has to do with misleading the general public who read these threads, and ventures into marketing BS, which points to being a Corporate shill for XD. Yes, it is great to have choices for single-stack .45s, but to say that Kahr and Glock et al, do not make one is more than overlooking a product.

Then, to try and reason your way out of that lie by saying the G36 is not a viable option as it was never offered in a different caliber (9mm)? More marketing mis-direction, and an obvious red herring issue to deter looking at the real focus.

Yes, mingansr, you are welcome per the assistance with CCW courses. Yes, I understand that SA now uses "U.S.A." on their slides as a copy-written marketing ploy to get people to associate their Croation built pistols with America. "Ultra Safety Assurance" is great, but an unfortunate use of Patriotic strings. Bringing the production of the XD pistol line in-house to Illinois would be even better. My .02. YMMV.

How did I "eliminate" the Glock 36? When did I say it doesn't exist? In fact I mentioned it in multiple posts of mine in this thread. The ONLY reason I didn't mention the G36 along with Kahr and Walther in one of my posts was because the G36 is only offered in .45 ACP. You can get single stack Kahr's in 4 different calibers, and it is relevant to this discussion since there is talk (and much hope, according to many posters in this thread) that the XDS will eventually be offered in calibers other than .45 ACP. Yes, the thread is about the XDS, and yes, at this point the XDS is only a .45ACP, but if you read back through this whole thread, you'll notice several people commenting they hope to see this gun offered in 9mm.

Oops, you caught me. I've been contributing to discussions on this forum for over 4 years, just to wait for my moment to mislead the public about the Glock 36 "not existing" so they'll rush out and buy the Springfield... Also, regarding your accusation that I'm a "Corporate shill for XD" - you may want to re-read Rule #4 of The High Road Code of Conduct regarding personal attacks.

Let's take a deep breath and attempt to get this thread back on topic. I'll start:

How long before we'll see aftermarket manufacturers (or Springfield for that matter) making an extended magazine for the XDS? It looks like it's in dire need of at least a pinky extension.

Some want more ammo capacity.
Some want lighter weight.
Some want a longer barrel.
Some want a larger round.
Some want smaller dimensions.
Everyone wants some combination of these qualities. and maybe a couple of others.

I'm primarily interested in a larger round and compact size.
The XDS is more compact than the Glock 36. The figures bear that out.

Pistol--------------Glock 36-------Springfield Armory XDS
Length-------------6.97 inches------6.3 inches
Height-------------4.76 inches-------4.4 inches
Width--------------1.1 inches--------1.0 inches
Empty Weight------20.11 ounces-----21.5 ounces
Ammo capacity------6+1----------------5+1

And being 45acp, that's enough difference to maybe sway me toward the XDS.

On Glock's website, they list the G36 as 1.13" wide at the slide (not the widest point). The XDS is listed with a slide width of just .9", and only 1" at the widest point. So the entire width of the XDS is even slimmer than the slide of the G36! I can't wait to check out the XDS in person.
