I've been checking out the possibilities for a partially finished stock from my RIA Model 1903. Some stocks specifically state they will fit a 1903 or a 1903A3, so I'm guessing there are some fundamental differences in the metal work and inletting required to make the stock fit.

What are those differences?

The reason I ask is my rifle is minus its ladder rear sight and sleeve and I'm wondering if its better suited to a 1903 stock inlet or a 1903A3 inlet.

I don't think it should mater much- on the 03A3 the stock needs to be inletted a bit to fit the clip at the rear of the handguard.
