So today I had my appointment with the Concealed Handgun Unit of the Sheriffs office. So I got fingerprinted and photographed. In fact I actually got to see my CHL, since it prints instantly. Of course I did not get to take it home since they don't mail them until the background check is complete.

My experience was entirely positive, I walked in paid my fee's the lady took me into the workroom right away even though I was 40minutes early for my appointment (expected much more bureaucratic wait time and more traffic). I was in and out in under 20min. When I was done the lady asked if I had any questions and we even chatted for a few minutes. I asked her "So how long is the average for getting it back in the mail" She said about 30days since the number of applications has been high lately. She then shocked me when she said, the longer wait is unfortunate but its kinda nice to see more people getting their CHL's. I agreed and I was on my way.

I was very surprised by how positive the whole experience was.

So now I wait patiently for the license in the mail and then I can proudly join the CCW club.
