The GSR with the composite stock and break is the most tame 308 I have ever shot. 6.5 pounds and recoil is about 223 like. Very effective break. However don't wear a hat and stand to the right or left of me when I shoot. It will blow it off your head.

I agree the brake is very effective. But I do think it would be hard on the ears in the field.

I've got mine off right now, and the recoil feels about like a 7mm mag in a normal weight rifle. It's not enough to bruise my shoulder, which is my personal cutoff. I can live with it that way.
