Gonna trade that winchester 1300 Ive been bothering you guys about the las two threads for a stoegor condor and 100 cash this next tuesday. Im very excited as this will be my first O/U shotgun, Just wanted to ask some questions about the stoegor and the general consensus on the brand itsef. Can i shoot slugs with an improved choke? And what about using the gun for HD? I always thought a 12ga is a 12ga.

It's a used stoeger. Have a competent 'smith cut the barrels to the shortest vent rib section over 18" and you'll have twin cyl bores in a short, quick "get outta my house" buckshot/ slug package.

It has removable chokes and im not fond of it being cut at the barrel as I also want to use it to hunt.

It it has removable chokes and you want to shoot slugs, can't you install a full choke or something like that if the improved choke is too tight?
Is there such a thing as a slug choke?

"Buy one for the wife" is a great idea. I did that once. Had my Wingmaster 870 that I didn't want to get all banged up on hunts. Bought my wife an 870 express youth model 20 gauge. She loved shooting skeet with it. Turns out, I really liked shooting the small gun as well and was perfect for bird hunting, small and light, could carry it around all day.

Interesting. Ive never shot a 20ga but I have been wanting to get a .410 mossberg for her to use.

Huh? Install a FC if the Improved is too tight??? Typo maybe? A FC is tighter than either an improved cylinder or improved modified choke.
Removable chokes are not an obstacle to shooting slugs.
If slugs are to be used, try a cylinder choke or an improved cylinder choke.
Don't cut the barrels. You will regret it if you do. You will lose the versatility of multiple chokes. You will alter the swing dynamics of the gun; one might even say that you would ruin the swing. Your most common use is going to be better served with the gun as it is.
BTW - An O/U with 28" barrels is about the same length as a pump gun with 24 inch barrels.
