Folks,

Building a straight-pull bolt action AR pistol on a stripped Stag lower (yes, it was transferred as a pistol & I have Stag's $20 certificate of virginity). Used .223 bbl on way - 16" DPMS HBAR dissy, dissy gas block removed. So one way to put it is I've got an 8" bbl w/ a uni-ported 8" rifled vertical muzzle brake :) I've tried w/out success over @ ARF to find out how to build a single shot 9mm straight-pull, but the folks that have built 'em are staying silent. So, the questions are:

1 - Does a standard .223 faced bolt have to be whittled on for 9x19mm to chamber, or can it be left stock?
2 - Are 9x19mm bbls obtainable w/ the standard bbl extension (part w/ locking lugs)?
3 - If not 2, can a 9mm be rechambered, and the standard bbl extension then be attached to the bbl?
4 - Presuming 9x19mm doesn't have a hope in hell of feeding w/ a standard lugged bolt, will a longer cartridge work better? 9x23? 9mm Mauser? 9mm Win Mag? .30" Carbine?

Keep in mind:

We're not talking about a 9mm blowback here - Yes, I KNOW 9mm bolts are different, and 9mm bbls are different - I'm asking how to make them the SAME. Yes, I KNOW .223 uses gas to operate & the 9mm doesn't - except we're not using either here. Sorry to hammer the point home, just trying to save needless posts.

Gig 'em,
