Would like quick release mounts, since they make cleaning the rifle so much easier...

The scope is Luepold with a 30 mm tube and 50mm objective. Rail is piccatany, and the rifle is a .260 remington.

Would the warne rings do, without scarificing accuracy due to loose mounts etc...

Warne QD(Quick Detatch) rings. Accuarate & Repeatable !!

I have Warne Rings on every varmint rifle that I own. I detach all scopes for carrying to the range or traveling out to S.Dak./mont. for prairie dog shooting. The scopes have their own case and I can fit 3 rifles in a 2-rifle case.

Repeatablity : Shooting 300m F-Class with a scope that had to be re-sighted every time that I removed it would be time consuming and very bad for such a timed compitition. I can shoot all day, remove the scope for a thorough rifle cleaning, replace the scope and start shooting again. My "Zero" will not move any discernable amount. I say discernable amount because there is no such thing as exact. I cannot remember EVER having to put in a click or two due to a change in zero after removal/reinstallation of the scope. We're talkin' 300 meters (328 yds.) with a gun shooting a 2" - 2.5" grouping and I can't tell that there was a change in zero.

Note : Buy the extreme tactical mounts like a lot of members are going to tell you to do for big bucks if you want but almost everyone in my F-Class compitition group uses & swears by Warne mounts. That should tell you more than just ranting and "cool factors".

They only cost $45-$70 depending on 1" or 30mm and where you buy them.

i just put a Dednutz rig on my new savage and i do believe that is the brand i will be sticking with from now on. IMHO they are one of the better options, less moving parts.

I'm in the process of testing the Warne QD's on my AR. If I like them, I'll put them on my hunting rifles. So far they seem to hold a zero pretty well. It does seem like the the POI shifts slightly on the first shot after removing them but less than 1 MOA. After the first shot, the POI moves back to zero. Don't know if it's me or the recoil. They are seated forward against the cross slot though so I wouldn't believe the AR's "recoil" is the issue. Either way, I've removed the rings 30+ times already and never seen more than a 1 MOA shift.

Depending on you accuracy requirements, you probably don't want to remove you scope. 1/2 an MOA difference is 5 inches at 1000 yards.

You certainly don't want to make a practice of it.

Most of the quick detach rings on the market today originated from the design work of the late Leonard Brownell. These were the basis for the (old) Kimber's, early Warne's, and Dave Talleys. Warne makes two quality levels of quick detach rings, don't go for the cheaper series. Dave Talley's are some of the best.
