So what you're saying is that if 90% of people wanted guns, they would make hell until they were allowed guns, and the other 10% would still have their right to not have one.

Yes I see.

There is no real way to give people freedom to have guns without having a large amount of people wanting it though is there?

Why oh why are there only idiots to choose from for PM?

Not necessarily a majority. Note: The NRA have 4 million members only.

P.S. And on the PM's, well, you're Australian, it's your job to get active.

You got a computer, a job, and Internet, go make them worry.

Actually I don't got a job atm :( but that's probably beside the point. If I did make them worry, they'd still all be idiots. Although there is a good new lookin bloke coming up, and he's labour, so hopefully he'll get in. How would I make them worry anyhow, I've seen all these sites, but they don't have any "What to do" sections, they're all just info on the current legislations. I mean, I don't even know what I would write to someone, as it would just be one email.

Step One. Acquire Knowledge and understanding of the issue. Read up. Watch Innocents Betrayed, too!

Step Two. Talk to people. On the Internet. At home. At work. If every gun nut explains the issue to just one anti per year, we'll win. Don't force yourself upon them. Learn how to change minds.

Wear clothing with pro-gun slogans/images, bumper stickers, etc. I have an NRA "Armed with Pride" hat. Each time somebody asks me "***? You support those crazy NRA people?" it's an opportunity. I have made excellent pro-gun activists out of some pretty extreme antis that way.

Step Three. Write letters to the editor. Point out mistakes in anti-gun articles. That worked for me many times - see also Shannon Harper - who is now a lurking THR member - from an anti-gun journalists. One day Shannon will work for Washington Post, and make a difference, too.

Write OPEN letters to politicians. The only sense in letters to politiicans is if they're OPEN - and other people will read them and learn.

Donate towards having advertisements to support the cause. Actually, just run off some Oleg Volk posters off your printer and hang some around were you live. Sometimes it works.

Although there is a good new lookin bloke coming up, and he's labour [sic], so hopefully he'll get in.

Maybe you should note that the Labor Party has as one of the fundamental planks of its platform the removal of all firearms ownership from the public. They are, by tradition, even more anti-gun than Howard's mob. They voted 100% (not one dissenting vote) for the 1996 gun laws.

Latham will do NOTHING to protect or even care about gun owners. Unless we can (a) do a deal with one of the parties, or (b) get a heap of pro-gun independents in at the next Federal election, we are reamed, bored and countersunk.

Bruce in West Oz is correct.......

There is no hope for firearms owners in a Labour Government.:(
We have no major party to turn to. None.

Firearms owners are not even on Latham's screen at the moment.

Now is the time to try for that deal....Labour is desperate enough to get into power...but we need a lot of activism in a very short time frame to pull it off.

I hate to be a pessimist, but 'reamed, bored and countersunk' pretty much hits the nail on the head here.:barf:
