Ok, I wasn't planning on being here this long... so I didn't bring enough ammo.

Well, when my land deal fell through I had some extra cash...
I ordered 60,000 rounds ~ of 5.45x39 to go to one location, and then ordered
6 cases and 2 Ak74's sent to Tactical Response.
Century told me the ammo would be here LAST Thurs, or Friday
and the Rifles would be here Fri or Monday.

The ammo got here TODAY (Tues.) and the rifles STILL arn't here.

The SAME salesman who I have been dealing with for some time (Herb, Extention 8) told me he DIDN'T tell me that the stuff would be here when he said it would be.
(Of course... this is right after he tried to tell me I didn't order the rifles.)

Century has been less than helpful, and just asked me to write them as letter describing the situation AFTER I INSISTED something be done.

-I told them I just wanted to be told the truth about when something would be there, and I didn't think it was too much to ask. (I told them WHY/What it was for, and how important it was when I ordered.)

For the record I spent ~ $7,500 on all of this... I don't know HOW MUCH the comission is... but I think I deserve better service.

The Guys at Tactical Response hooked me up, James loaned me his personal Ak74, and mags, and the guys at the gear shop let me borrow/replace the ammo.

Century Sux, The guys at T. R. rock.

I want everyone to get their due...

Please pass the word.

I wouldn't say SUX so quickly; It might be good of you to consider that shipments that large will take quite a lot more effort to make than ONE case of ammo would; and that this happened to be over the course of a National Holiday (Remember Easter? People tend to take time off work, government shuts down, etc?)
So your ammo was a couple days late; the firearms take special handling.
Not to mention that you aren't the only ammo whore jumping on the great price on the 5.45 ammo, Century just extended the sale another month for all of us ammo whores out here to enjoy.

I've never had a problem with Century's shipping.

It was the 6 cases that THEY told me would be here on a specific day BEFORE the weekend... read the post please.

'Ammo whore' (Shakes head) -Unprintable response.

I've never had a problem with Century's order and I've been ordering from them for several years... the first time it MATTERS.... they tell me one thing and do another... complete with denial... I think that's worth knowing.

Well, Herb probably screwed the pooch on this one. He's in FL, the stuff ships from VT. It's not like he can run in back and make sure it gets out the door. My rep has always been willing to get a tracking number after stuff has shipped, but hasn't ever tried to promise when something would ship.

how much lead time did you give century for this pretty large order?

What difference does that make?

If they could not deliver they should not have promised they could.

Doesn't matter how much time they had.

It's about honesty.

They gave the man a delivery date. If they couldn't make it they shouldn't have. Why is it that when you complain about certain companies people come out of the woodwork to defend them? He even said they DENIED he ordered the rifles!! Sounds to me like they do suck.

You know, the northeast...

has had alot of really crappy winter weather lately, that could have been the hold up. I have two cans of that ammo that is supposed to be delivered today. I will see. I got one can from SOG yesterday that was shipped last Friday.....chris3

Forgot to add, I allow 10 days minumum for an order from any of the suppliers I deal with. It is usually right on the money too......chris3

couldn't have said it better myself, that goes hand in hand with good business practices. you do what you say and if you can't be upfront about it.

We all know that Century is crap, but if you want some rifles, such as a CETME, they are your only option. They hire angry, untrained, drunk monkeys to assemble their weapons and use ugly electropenciling on milsurps.

I also don't like the fact that their catalog is only accessible by dealers. That annoys me.

Why didn't you order from somewhere else? I think AIM surplus has the 5.45 AK's in stock for around $289.

UPDATE: I got my rifles... I told herb I needed 5.45 ammo and rifles to shoot them... I was VERY specific... went over WHICH ones 3 times.
The rifles came in today... they are 7.62

They messed up the 6 case order... That's NOT large.
(And they got out of Vermont BEFORE the snow...)

I left a NICE message... we will be talking tomorrow.

Avenger: I was expecting better... free shipping...

I may have missed it, but did your shorty AK with the scout optic break down on you during class? I was just wondering why you are in dire straights for a rifle at the moment.

Not my shorty AK... I was shooting the AK47.

I have stayed longer than I intended... so I needed more ammo.
Since I am getting into the Ak74 I thought I'd see if I could just have some of the ammo and rifles sent here. (Rather than buying more expensive 7.62x39) Century told me no problem... and then treated me like this.

Update: I called Century this morning... they were treating me pretty nasty... till they pulled up the paperwork.

Then they said "We messed up big time" and were ALL about
'not loosing me as a customer'

BUT, they wanted to charge me more for the AK74's... more than I could get it from AIM for...

I said I would get it from somewhere else...

They told me I'd get 10% off my next couple orders.

I told them about the Pallet of 7.62x54 I had ordered/cancled when all this started. The sales manager told me it was already a good price. I told him I know that, but he had said he wanted to make it up to me.
He said he would see what he could do ... and I asked him to E-mail me the #'s... I don't have them.

I have a strange lifestyle (VERY Nomadic), and NEED to get the rifles monday... (I'd of had 2 weeks IF I had known they were gonna do this to get them from elsewhere)
So I called Century back... said here's your chance... get it to my FFL by Monday. They STILL charged me $25 per rifle more than Aim would have...

I am NOT happy.

I will probably order from them again, but if they wern't a major importer...
I will order from elsewhere WHENEVER I can.

Ah, understood. Best of luck in dealing with the opposed thumb monkeys!
Another shout of thanks for the sitreps straight from the events.

Century SUX...gee, ya think? And all these years later, people still haven't figured that out and continue to buy from them. Sorry, I don't mean to heap on you, it's just that Century has been shipping crap, refusing to make good on crappy guns, shipping the wrong items, and in general, lying to people, for years now. This isn't news.

Century is a company that really needs to die off, so it can be replace by a company that cares a little more about it's customers. I can't count the number of times I've been burned by them. Being a forgiving person, willing to give them another chance, just proved me to be a fool willing to be suckered yet again.
