A 14-YEAR-OLD Victorian boy has required treatment for a head wound after his younger brother accidentally shot him with an air rifle.
Police said the incident occurred at a property near Whittlesea, north of Melbourne, about 10.15am yesterday.
"The 14-year-old was riding a quad bike in the rear yard of the property when his 13-year-old brother aimed an air rifle at a target, fired and hit him in the head as he rode past," Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said.
"The 14-year-old suffered a minor wound to the head and was taken to the Kilmore Hospital, where he was treated for a small cut before returning home."
Constable Wilson said the air rifle was seized by police and charges may be laid.
