Tell me your old rifle stories?

So about four days ago I Bought a Flaig's rifle. I had never heard of them, and now am learning all kinds of great information on them. It has inspired me to ask you guys that lived through the 40's, 50's, and 60's (maybe the 70's also, lol) to tell your stories of anything firearms related. I have been learning about some great custom work, and shops from before my time and am really enjoying learning about them. If there is anything you guys can tell me about firearms from times past please tell the stories. Maybe a time you went hunting or shooting with a friend, a time you compared firearms back in the day, maybe you thought a cartridge was a great one, but didn't make a big impact. I don't know, I feel if the stories aren't told us younger guys well miss out on something great, and it will be lost forever. I'm a big history buff, and love hearing about anything in the past, we have a lot to gain from someone else's stories, heck maybe share a story your grandfather or someone shared with you. I would have put this in General Information, but it seems like nothing but politics get talked about in that forum, and this thread would have been moved to the bottom of the list before anyone had a chance to read it. Thanks to anyone that will share a story.
