If you are into handgun competitions, you may want to listen this Sunday, when Dick Metcalf, is the guest on Gun Talk radio. Dick is the "father" of the Masters event, and it is held on his farm every year.

Of course, Dick also has been writing for Shooting Times about handguns, loading, hunting, and optics, for more than 20 years, so if you have a question about a form of comptition, or a particular handgun, chances are he has an answer.

The show starts Super Bowl Sunday (skip the pre-game boredom), at 1:06pm CENTRAL. If you don't get it on a local station, just listen on the web. www.guntalk.net, then follow the links to LISTEN.

I think I saw something about this on American Shooter. Action pistol, is like steel challange. Long range pistol is bolt action pistols, and precision pistol is .22's at tiny targets. Not easy.

I went several years ago. This shoot is something to see. Anyone can sign up to shoot and all of the top shooters from most all of the disciplines were there. They would group the top shooters together on what were called supersquads. The crowds would follow these supersquads around and watch their matches. Talk about speed! I esp. remember the falling plates. These guys were dropping whole rows of plates in the time it takes to to line up my sights to drop one. Resourcefullness also comes to the fore. That was also the year that Doug Koenig used a motorcycle helmet for some of the stages of the competition.
