I am talking about the FN scar, and Masada/ Bushmaster ACR.

Both of these rifles look nice and at least one of them will be purchased. But since they aren't out in the market yet it seems, any initial impression of them.

Mostly Scar Heavy, normal barrel length. Will this be available soon, and price.

And ACR rifle, or SPR. This was supposedly releasing sometime late 2008, probably around $1500 for the standard rifle.

I'll be interested in both, but don't hold your breath. I suspect we are *minimum* a few months out on seeing them available.

I think there are a couple people who post here who have had the opportunity to shoot the prototypes.

according to the bushmaster acr website, that rifle may not be out for civilian sales untill march of '09,it was a message from bushmaster to that forum.i know the xcr was delayed a year or more befor it finally came out.. i want one, too, its going to be a waiting game....

I would like some sort of .308 clip fed rifle. and the scar looks nice, and I have always liked FN's.

And the suggested price floating around puts is in the same area as a fal, which isn't bad really.

The ACR and FN SCAR both remind me of the Robinson Arms XCR and TPD AXR rifles. They will be out in "Two weeks"

It seems that even large and Very large firearms companies can’t put a rifle into production any faster than the "Maw & Paw" company.

There are a lot of nice new .308 rifles out. POF and LWRC to name a few.

Whatever happened to the kel-tec BFR, or whatever it was named? I had been saving my pennies for some .308, bullpup, fal magazine-accepting, 20" barreled rifle in an M4-sized package goodness!? :D!

I've fired the SCAR. I was very impressed with both the way it handled/shot and its design. I liked it enough that I'll be picking one up when (if?) they ever make it to the civilian shooter market, though hopefully I'll be getting one issued to me by .mil as well (seems to be a foot race on whether I ETS before they get to units, or at least my unit).

Still at a loss to see what the SCAR or ACR can do that the XCR from Robinson cannot.

The KelTec RFB - yes, I'm waiting for that one two. Should be "about two weeks" (like someone said), times 20 that is.

Getting the XCR in about a month. Will get the RFB if it ever comes out and isn't completely cheesified like the SU16. Can't deal with a plastic rail.

Also, these ARE NOT ASSAULT RIFLES, SO PLEASE DO NOT USE THAT PHRASE, in referring to semi-auto, military-pattern sporting rifles.

I got to handle and break down the SCAR light at the FN 3 gun in Missouri this summer, but didn't get to shoot it. It seems well engineered, ergonomic, very easy to take apart. The gun had been fired but was still very clean. It looks a little like a cartoon gun, but I guess that's ok.

Kel tec 308 looks intreresting, but the price seems a bit too steep.

Seen that it would be going for around $2k. Just seemd high compared to other KT's. Even if it is a bullpup 308 rifle.

And sauces, what do you called a mil style rifle in semi auto. I always used assault rifle, becasue that's what most people call them. And military pattern civilian rifle (MPCR?) is to long.

And if laws changed I would buy them full auto, but laws are stupid. Some are good, some don't work. Some make fun guns impossible to get.

No such thing as an ASSAULT rifle . . .

An ASSAULT person exists, but rifles cannot assault anyone. You may note that I detest the term: ASSAULT RIFLE! Four-in-the-box with one up the spout is the maximum load I can afford to carry. I am a responsible U.S. citizen, dedicated to hunting afield. If I cannot strike my quarry with five rounds, I suppose I don't deserve to eat that evening. Yet, who am I to dictate how many rounds are needed to fill one's plate? America the Rich, is not shared by all-too-many Americans. Many Americans cannot afford quality firearms to aid in filling their aching bellies. Only meat consumption has made every human as intelligent as they currently are. Potatoes are somewhat nurishing, but meat is what made the human brain grow in intelligence above other mammals. I do not consider myself "ASSAULTING" a deer when I NEED that deer's meat to survive. cliffy

Then no "assault" rifles for me. Will just get the "EBR"s some people want banned.

I hope I never have to use a weapon against a person. I will if I have to. But I like guns because they are fun. And more rounds at the ready may be unneeded for hunting ( you can only carry so much anyway. ) More bullets without reloading is definitely more fun.

But the name "assault rifle" sticks. Kind of like "SUV" that will never even roll down a gravel road, lest it get dusty.

Assault rifle is a legit term, coming from SturmGewehr. But the point is that such a select-fire rifle is used by troopers (originally storm troopers - heavily armed to overwhelm the enemy and take the objective, which was then to be held by regulars) to conduct fast operations where there's a need to have superior firepower.

Assault rifle is thus intermediate calibre select fire military rifle. If one has real M16 at home it is actually a assault rifle. Having the tool doesn't necessitate the actual use of it.

If it's semi, it's a sporting rifle (or what the companies name them to get them to open market).

That said. I like assault rifles (G36, for example, that I have some experience with) but I would rather buy a SCAR-H with CQB and DM barrel, a silencer and maybe the GL. But that's more like a battle rifle.

There are pluses and minus to all three of designs. Comparing the XCR to the ACR the most obvious difference is that ability to change out the lower receiver to one that accepts different magazine designs.

The Bushmaster ACR is looking more and more like a "Cedric Benson"!

How so?

The "Assault Rifle" horse has been beaten and beaten and beaten. Who cares what it may or may not imply? Seems like you can't ask a question without your intentions being brought into question.

"Assault" can be either a noun or a verb. You are recognizing it as a noun. This is the horse I'm talking about, but you're beating it with a different stick.

Debating weather or not what someone has the right to call something by a specific name is a non-productive waste of time, and should be restricted to the youtube comment section. If you're worried about the Lib's coming on THR and reading such blasphemy, you need a thicker tin foil hat.

Yeah try not to ever use the word assault rifle unless you are talking about an actual select fire, medium caliber rifle.

It just helps legitimize the brady bunch BS.

Instead of running from the term assault rifle, we should just maintain that we have a right to own them, because under the second amendment we do.

I don't get the problem people have with it in the first place. It is an obvious reference to a military action. People who can't see or accept that are not going to side with us anyway.

If I could get any.. Military style rifle. With all three settings. I would. But until we get someone that thinks "not infringing" means... not limiting.... (which it should) I will stick with high cap semis, just for the fun of it.
