Yesterday was my Daughters Birthday (57) arranged to meet her about half way, from her place to mine.

At a real nice Hotel/Spa.

Had our new Jeep Cherokee 4 Cld. About a month. Going south, from Orlando.

The question is, how fast is OK? The limit being 70 MPH. Me normally 75/77.
And I tend to keep to the right lane, 77 gave me a 33 mpg.
Highway not to busy, left home at 1pm. English type driver, indicate with 3 blinks lane changes.

Watched a SUV, Red one, coming up behind me, me in right lane, 77mph me.
Fifty yards ahead of me, left lane, out of state plates, Toyota? Red SUV, really going, got really close, sort of pushed this Car over!

SUV Florida Plate. Off he went staying in left lane, 90MPH? maybe. When he went over the next rise, saw blue and red lights come on, over that hill.
Trooper stepping out of his SUV as we passed in the left lane.

My comment to my lovely Wife... "Do you still want me to push our speed up a bit now?" I got a big smile, and a head shake in reply.

So who drives at what bit over the limit?

I was carrying a Glock 19, and a spare G17 magazine! I was way off track, yes!

Step 1 when carrying a gun is avoidance, that goes for avoiding law enforcement as well. I'm old enough to understand the mathematics involved in speed/time/distance traveled and realize that I have to go really fast for a significant period of time to make any appreciable difference in the time I arrive. I can skip a bathroom break or grab a bag of peanuts or a granola bar and a bottle of water and consume those in the vehicle instead of stopping for lunch and make better time than I can speeding. It's a risk vs rewards equation and I no longer see the reward in pushing the boundaries. Around town I try to stay right on the money. On the Interstate I try to move at the same pace as the bulk of the flow of traffic which is usually within 5mph over. Anything faster than that is asking for a conversation with a cop and since I carry 95% of the time, that means an encounter with a cop while armed and all the potential for things to unravel as a result. Step 1, avoidance.

When I was young and foolish 40-50 years ago, there was no speed limit.

Now, if the speed limit is 70, I drive no more then 71 -72.

Its kinda fun to honk at the guy that passed me 2 miles back going 85 when the cop has him stopped on the shoulder of the road!!

I've been on the road for over 35 years. I wish they kept the 55mph speed limit and allowed you 65 to 70. Now that it's back to 65mph I regularly see 75 +++. Driving these days have more in vehicle distractions like cell phones, lap tops, tablets complicated features in vehicles, ect. Plus I notice many over all are flat out poor drivers, rude, aggressive, elderly ect. And last in my area lots of snow. I think licencing requirements need to be looked at and I wish laws would suspend or take licences more for speeding. jmo. I set my cruise control for the speed limit.
