Has anyone shot a vepr 7.62x54r before? How well does it shoot? Does anyone have one to sell?

Atlantic Firearms has them for sale, so does Centerfire Systems, as do others.
The one at Atlantic is on my short list, if I buy another AK, that'll be the one.

I have not shot the 54r, but I would imagine that Vepr has maintained their well deserved reputation for producing a quality & accurate AK platform.

Don't know about the OP, but for me...
Because the 54r ammo is so ballistically similar to .308 as not to matter... Except for price.
And because the 54r is good for my SVT-40, MN91/30, M44 & Finn M39 and other variations.

Plus, I already have a Saiga.308-ver.21

I have owned the Vepr in 308. The Vepr is based on an automatic weapon chambered for 7.62X39 So it is a modification to go to 308 and even more to go to 7.62X54. You will notice a different dust cover arrangement due to the extended receiver. My experience with the Vepr 308 versus the Saiga is that the Vepr is initially smoother operating, better finished and exhibits the same accuracy. Both rifles punish the brass by slamming it into the dust cover. The vepr has a smaller diameter barrel and is lighter than a Saiga with the same length barrel. The receiver also has a cross pin which interferes with a standard AK hammer so if you are doing trigger mods get ready for some filing. IMO the Vepr is one of the best AK's I have ever shot.
ETA the old veprs had a sweet rear sight which was windage adjustable and had a more precise rear notch, but the new rifles I have seen may not have this.
Chili that is a sweet Saiga.

ChileRellino thats the best looking semi auto rifle i've seen in a long time. Nice work!

7.62 x 54 is pretty accurate, I shot a PSL at the shooting range and hit dead center my 2 or 3rd shot first time picking it up... I swapped a few rounds from my AK with guy next to me who has PSL and it was dead on... that is a SWEET SAIGA...

I enjoy my PSL quite a bit and it will hit pretty much what it is pointed at. I have only shot it out to 100 yards but it is great fun....just make sure you run bullets no more heavy then 150 grains in the psl...it will tear it up so the internet rumor is anyway.

Here is a somewhat fuzzy pic of mine.

They are great fun and make a big noise.
