I'm having a difficult time..
of imagining any legitimate use for this information. What possible legitimate use would this information be used for? So what if your moronic brother in law has a concealed carry license? What good will that information do you?
There is no legitimate need for this information being public.
I mean,
so what if you could find out if your enemy had a concealed carry license. If you had an enemy who was considering KILLING YOU, and he didn't have a CCW permit, don't you think he might still bring a gun to use to kill you? The only difference would be he didn't have a permit to carry it. Big whoop. That wouldn't save you.
In other words, if you checked the list and found he did
not have a CCW permit, would you really rest easy "knowing" that he could not come after you with a gun at all? Of course not: that notion is absurd. All you would know is that when he came after you with a gun, in addition to killing you, he'd be exposed to a charge of illegal possession of a firearm (during the commission of murder)! Big whoop. Like a
murderer is really worried about that.
Just what are these list advocates thinking will make the public safer about having a published list of CCW holders?
"Hey, here's a list of people who have
clean backgrounds. Talk about suspicious! Better watch out for them! I mean,
who knows what kind of evil stuff the cleanest of the clean might get up to!"
Can you believe this? These people are
actually coming out in public expressing worry about people who have gone out of their own way to get vetted by the FBI, fingerprinted, photographed...!!!! *** is wrong with these idiots?! They are actually making it seem like CCW licensees are more of a threat to the fabric of society than all the criminals running around who could never pass a CCW background check!
