What can you out there tell me about the Thompson TC Venture? It is fairly inexpensive, under $500 for the basic rifle. I'll go to a gun store and see some things for myself for myself, but it is always helpful to hear from you guys who own one and have experience shooting them. I've been looking at Tikka; a bit more expensive, but if Thompson TC Venture is good, I might save some money. I generally don't care for composite stocks, but will use this rifle in the field under a variety of conditions, so it might be worthwhile to avoid thinking about scratching it. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

I have one in .223 and had one before in .30-06. They both are/were very accurate.

My current .223 has a pretty tight chamber and the bolt won't close on some rounds----no big deal as my AR's and Mini will gobble em up like candy.

I paid $300 for it after the rebate--the metal work is quite nice and the rubberized pads on the stock are a nice touch for such an inexpensive rifle. I bought an extra mag for it was a little on the pricey side and they only hold 3 rounds----again no big deal for a bolt action hunting rifle.

Among the best of the bargain rifles. Nothing to look at but sensibly designed, well built, very accurate. Mine is in 270 Win. It shoots as well as I possibly can. For a hunting rifle, I'd say double thumbs up. If intended use is an all weather field rifle, I'd plump for the Weathershield model.

I have a venture in 7mm08, it took me a while but i have mine shooting 1 moa with my reloads. I have killed several deer with the venture. it is accurate and solid however it did get recalled once??? I have had no problems with the plastic stock or the magazine. In general Thompson Center makes quality firearms, I had 2 TC muzzleloaders and a Encore that were excellent, that is why i chose my 7mm08 bolt gun from TC. good luck.
