For anyone that doesn't know Tom Selleck, the actor that portrayed Thomas Magnum in Magnum P.I. and Mathew Quigley in Quigley Down Under, was spokesperson for the NRA after Charlton Heston.

Part of his collection, he's donated many items to museums, is up for auction at Rock Island Auctions.

A stunning collection. Surely Tom Selleck didn't pursue gunbroker and bid. Who did he buy these from?

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. His collection encompasses high grade stuff that's too far beyond my limitations but it's fascinating to look at. Didn't see it in the auction listings information but some of his older Winchesters were restorations done by Doug Turnbull. IIRC there was one on display in Turnbulls showroom some years ago when I was there in December to make my annual purchase of one of their calendars. There were several old Winchesters on display and I was so blown away by them that I forgot the details on them.

Love those lever actions. The 1873 is cool, but strangely I like the Marlin 1897 even more. And that mint Merwin & Hulbert revolver, wow. Selleck seems to share my tastes in firearms (if I had his money).

It is interesting to see his tastes in firearms. There is some serious money there. The only thing that really caught my eye was the pocket pistol. I like how unique it is.

He was in my basic training company, Ft. Ord, Monterey CA in 1967. We trained with M-14’s.

Like me, he did not go on to active duty, I was in the reserves, he was in the national guard.

He certainly developed a fine taste for firearms. I wonder if he was able to keep his rifle from “Quigley”?

I was hoping to see his Magnum PI 1911 up for auction. No such luck.
Although I believe Selleck had an actual Colt 1911A1 for most scenes, when shooting scenes were called for, a 9mm Series 70 that was capable of cycling with blanks was substituted... Yeah, even if it weren't in God's caliber, I'd bid on it...
