Okay, they weren't new only new to me. The First is a Taurus PT 1911 Duo-tone, a twin to one I already own. The second was an impulse buy, a Stainless Springfield GI. I got to the range later than I wanted so I only had about 45 minutes of daylight left. I ran about 70 rounds through the Taurus and 50 or so through the GI. Both ran flawlessly. The Taurus shot great. I shot everything at B-27 targets at ten yards. The Taurus tore a ragged hole in the target. It was as good if not better than its twin brother.
The GI never hiccupped. It ate about 4 different types of ammo without a hitch. Accuracy wasn't great but I am sure that it will improve with new sights and a trigger job. Still, it was accurate enough for defensive purposes and I was able to acquire the sights, what there was of them, fairly quickly. All in all, a good day. The temps are supposed to be in the mid 30's tomorrow so I may head out agin for an hour or two.
