I have a 358 Win 7600 Remington that shoots about everything at least OK, but got a couple boxes of Double Tap 180gr ttsx's because they were out of the 225gr Accubonds I had been shooting. Turns out, the gun LOVES them. Got them for whitetails, but as well as they shoot I feel I should at least consider using them for elk, but seems a bit light for caliber and I know nothing about that bullet other than what I have read online- not much about using it in 358 Win or for elk.

Thoughts?

The solid coppers have the reputation for punching above their weight, so to speak. I've seen a couple of the same ttsx's taken from an elk shot with the 358 Hoosier and they mushroomed beautifully. You should be fine as long as you put the shot in the right place.

Guess what I am worrying about is if the shot isn't in the right place. Is this something that would bust an elk's near side shoulder and keep trucking?

The 358 will certainly break a bone, but big bores can only "make up" for so much, and a bad angle is a bad angle

They will shoot flatter and hit plenty hard. I take elk with 150ttsx in my 308 and those petals always peel back like a machine did it.
