i got my mold and everything for loading except brass, in the meantime im casting and wondered if i could tumble lube the lee 255g .45 type bullets with large groves that weren't really meant to be tumble lubed? i just wanted to know if they could be satisfactorily used under 850 fps with liquid alox for cowboy loads, considering i have no lubricator/sizer yet

yep you can tumble lube pretty much any bullet, if you do need to size them, i would be giving them another coat of tumble lube after sizing as well.
It shouldn't take to much time to just give them an extra coat anyways.
I just use an old plasitic dish, throw the bullets in and give it a squirt of lube, roll them all about until they are all coated evenly, then let dry, occassionally rolling them around to prevent them sticking altogether.

It will work.

I did some testing with a bullet with grooves for normal lube and it shot well. In tests it did not shoot quite as well as when it was lubed conventionally, but it did shoot well. That was one bullet and one bullet only. A Lee 218 Gr WC. It shot best with all 3 grooves lubed with 50/50, next best was 2 grooves lubed, Liquid Alox, and Rooster Jacket. It may have not been the lube, but the sizing that made the difference, but I felt like it was the lube because when I only lubed two grooves, it was sized also.
