When I was young and dumb I bought a National Match 1911 (~1974). It was in excellent shape, inside and out. That wasn't the dumb part. The dumb part was when I sold it.

I don't remember any "Gold Cup" logo. Doesn't mean it wasn't there. I just don't remember it. All I remember is the "National Match." It had adjustable sights, adjustable trigger, etc.

Question number 1: Since I paid $200 for it (~1974), do you think it was
A) a pre series 70 "Gold Cup" national match, B) a series 70 "Gold Cup, or
C) one of the earlier (pre Gold Cup, pre series 70) national matches?

Next question. Of all the variations of the 1911 national matches, (pre Gold Cup, series 70 Gold Cup, series 80 Gold Cup, current Trophey Gold Cup), are there significant differences to dissuade me from one or the other?

thanx for your help.

(BTW, it would really make my day if you tell me that in 1974, there's no way I could buy a pre Gold Cup national match for $200.)
