Hi Gang, Yesterday was great, it was truly an honor to be under the same roof with greats like Larry Pratt, Alan Gottlieb, Don Kates, John Lott, John Snyder, Alan Gura, Bob Levy,David Kopel and I can go on and on about the movers and shakers in the gun rights community. Here is the the BFA summary of Saturday up to mid afternoon. One thing that is missed is the
great speech given by Congressman Ron Paul. Though I will admit I am not on the Paul bandwagon it was a great speech.

I also want to let you know BFA won the 2007 Grassroots organization of the year! Congrats to all who work with BFA! :D Tim

Here is a link to a summary of Saturday's morning and afternoon events at the Gun Rights Policy Conference at the Drawbridge Inn in Fort Mitchell Kentucky.

Thank you Tim!!

Wow, what a surprise when they called Buckeye Firearms up to receive the 2007 Grassroots Organization of the Year award. I huge honor to all of us for the hard work, dedication and thousands of hours we put into the RKBA!

I was the guy in the brown jacket and tie, who stood up and had to tell Alan Gottlieb that Jim had left the room and to let Collin accept for BFA. So while we did not meet I am sure you saw me if you were in the room. :D

Linda you are quite welcome as you know you are one of the many reasons we won the award. :D

Cameras were rolling the entire time. I suspect if you contact the Second Amendment Foundation http://www.saf.org/ they can tell you if it is available.

They said this was the largest gathering they had ever had. It truly was impressive.

I did see you. I remember thinking "I should make a point to say hi to that guy" but never did.

I am certain it will be available on DVD. That would be a lot of video to watch (9 hours or so).

Really, the fellowship with others of similar and different backgrouns, but common interest, was the best part. Hard to explain them all. More like "points on a sphere" than a "spectrum." NRA; GOA; NSSF; bubbas (a handful who had to be from the cast of Deliverence); the Black Man With A Gun; Nichole, a transgender spokesperson from Pink Pistols; Second Amendment Sisters; lobbyists; Ron Paul fanatics; lawyers; academics (like John Lott), and more...

It was an interesting mix of people as diverse as anyone could imagine. The important thing was all were committed to preserving our Second Amendment rights.

Templar223, thanks for posting the pictures, I saw photos of many folks I talked to. I got a kick out of Venus. I thought she did well with her unexpected speech...up until she got into the post WWII rant about mercenaries and the military industrial complex. Alan was having a hard time giving her the hook. lol

Video of the event

I think the video is $25 plus a buck shipping...I assume it is available at their web site.

It was a wonderful event...Although, I didn't appreciate all the Ron Paul folks barging in...We drove over 500 miles for this event and it became a zoo when they arrived in busses and whatnot. I was really wanting to see what the deal is with Paul but after getting wrangled around the halls a bit, I got ticked and went out for dinner. Never saw the man...Made a Very bad impression from his people. :fire:
Other than that, it couldn't have been better! :D
What a wonderful bunch of people to share a weekend with!!!

I heard that Larry Pratt really tore into NRA Federal Lobbyist Chuck Cunningham over H.R. 2640.

The NRA is supporting 2640, which is a massive expansion of the Brady Registration Act.

GOA, NAGR, and a ton of state groups are opposed to it. Even the American Legion and the Military Order of the Purple Heart oppose it.

You can read the full skinny here and here.

There is NO video available of the GRPC (we did a VHS tape several years ago -- it didn't sell), but there IS an audio CD. Charles Heller of Arizona does/did the taping. I don't have his particulars handy, but if you call SAF at (425) 454-7012, they can tell you how to get in touch with Charles. I believe he was charging $20 or $25 per CD.
