I'm an Indiana resident, and as soon as I get my C&R, I'm placing an order for 3 rifles and a surplus pistol from SOG. I'm probably going to pick them up. I was just looking at their new guns and saw a shotgun I'd like to have. Can I buy it too?

You pretty sure that SOG sells that way? Their site says:

SOG is a wholesale company selling firearms to dealers holding a valid Federal Firearms License Only!

Would I do an FFL transfer like I would do with any other gun over the internet?

If it's not on the C&R List, you have to go through an 01 or better dealer like everyone else - unless they'll sell it to you at their shop on a 4473 and run you through NICS.

jondwright,

The BATFE spent a lot of my (and everyone elses) tax dollars to send you a very nice packet of rules and regulations.

I think you need to spend some time and read over ALL the rules pertaining to C&R (Class 03) FFL.

There is a lot you can do, but a whole lot you can't do. Until you understand the regulations I think you should leave the C&R locked up. IMHO.

SOG's ads and wesite are very good at pointing out which items are C&R eligible. I am unaware if they would even sell to youif you drove to their location. But Bob is giving some sage advice, read your regs. Otherwise you can get into misunderstandings about sales. From what I have seen on the auctions, so folks seem to be doing a poor job in understanding the rules and it will end up making us all look bad.

If SOG will sell it to you, you can get the shotgun from them, just not on your C&R. You may buy long guns across state lines from a licensed dealer as long as you go there in person and the sale is legal at both the dealer's location and the buyer's residence. You merely have to do the paperwork as though you were buying from your local 01-FFL.

Speaking of C&R details, when does something become C&R eligible? If I get a C&R, can I buy any weapon over X years old, or are there other requirements? Does a bureaucrat in Washington sign off on every single type of weapon a C&R can buy?

Thanks to those that answered my question.

My apologies to the gentleman I offended by placing this in the wrong forum.

And as far as the rules and regs packet you paid so dearly to help the government send me, I promise I'll read it.., WHEN IT GETS HERE. :banghead:

Geez...
