Used Ruger SR9 Stainless with 3 mags for $350.

A person I know is selling a used (less than 1000 rounds) Ruger SR9 two tone stainless with 3 17 round mags, original box, paperwork, for $350.

Is this a good price?

A new SR9E (with one mag), will run you around $330+ while used ones (at Bud's Gun Shop), look to be going for less than $300. So if everything checks out okay with the gun I would say it's a fair price with the 2 extra mags. Maybe see if this person would go for $300; possibly settle on price of around $325.

Bud's has NIB @ $411. A transfer fee might jump that into the $440-$450 range. Used OEM magazine would be worth maybe $20 to me.

I'd offer him $275 and not go above $300.

Seems fair to me. A few months back I sold those EXACT same items to a LGS. They gave me just over 300 bucks. In a private sale I would expect a little more.

I would agree that that is fair. $320 for the gun. You would be hard pressed to find a magazine under $30.

Does the padlock and load assist tool come with it? People tend to not pass those along.

If the gun is in great shape, I think that's a pretty fair price. I've seen new SR9s as low as $389, but with just two mags.

Depends on the age of the gun, too.
There was a recall on the earlier ones, and the newest ones have had a trigger design change for the better.
They have a D shaped mag release, instead of a round one.
Unless it's the compact C series - they always had the better trigger.

I ended up purchasing the pistol from the guy. A new mag is ~$35.

The guy originally wanted $400, I offered $325, and we settled on $350.

The gun is in excellent shape (no nicks or scratches that I can see). He had the original case and paperwork. There was no padlock or loading tool, but I really have zero care about those things.

I checked the serial number and the pistol is an early 2011 production.

I dry fired it a few times (with magazine) and the trigger is pretty smooth.

I am going to give it my cleaning and remove the stupid magazine disconnect later this evening. I will post pics.

I had an early SR9 (Stainless slide with black finish, which is no longer offered like that), but gifted it to one of my sons two years ago (with 3 magazines). Those extra mags are kinda pricey, aren't they?

I replaced the SR9 with an SR45 - bought an extra mag from GaG for a total of three).

Yes, Ruger went with that black nitride over the blackened stainless(don't know the difference between the two). I've seen many a black pistol slide with finish wear, which is why I prefer a stainless slide.

It seems that Sig pistols have the most delicate finish on their black pistols.

As far as mag prices, IIRC, the SR9 mags are like $35 from CDNN. I did see that CTD has the SR9 mags for $25.

Factory SR9 mags are made by Mec-Gar.

At least they were as of the 2010-2011 time frame.

I own 6 SR9 magazines before this purchase (now have 9). The 6 magazines I own all say "Made In Italy" on them. Mec-Gar is located in Italy so your claim has merit.

It has merit because it is true. Mec-Gar makes OEM mags for a number of manufacturers, including Ruger, SIG Sauer, Beretta, Walther, etc.

A few different Ruger models come with (or have come with) OEM mags made by Mec-Gar. Lately though, some Ruger models (LC9 for example) that previously came with Mec-Gar made mags have been showing up with mags marked as made in the US. That's why I was uncertain as to where new SR9 mags are currently coming from.

Idk, you might miss not having that loading tool. My mags were awefully stiff. Which I didn't totally hate. Made me feel like they might be more reliable and longer lasting, but who knows. However, the couple times I found myself at the range without the tool, I left with some sore fingers.

I have the UPLULA to load my double stack mags.

You got an extra mag and gun for $100 less than a new one with tax. That's not a smoking deal, but a pretty good one. Enjoy. I have an SR-45 and love it.

Got the SR9 home and cleaned it up. Cleaned up real nice. The guy I bought it from said he cleaned it, but it was really dirty.

I removed the magazine disconnect, Ruger has made it harder to remove than my 2009 SR9.

I will take it to the range and post a range report.
