Have recently acquired a USGI M1911A1 National Match .45. It has a 1943 Colt mfd frame, and was assembled as a NM gun by Rock Island Arsenal in 1968. All specs on the gun match (barrel part no./slide part no./barrel bushing part no., etc., and the barrel and bushing have the frame serial on them, all appropriate parts stamped "NM"). The gun is in about 90% condition. Noone down here has either a) ever seen one, or b) has a clue as to value. Could anyone give me an idea as to its value? Drop me an email.

At the time these were made, most of them were intended to be issued at the NRA National Matches held at Camp Perry, Ohio. An unknown number were also issued to military service teams, although the larger ones had they're own unit armorers.

At the matches a very limited number were sold to civilian competitors. After the matches the remaining pistols were returned to Springfield Arsenal (early) or Rock Island Arsenal (later). These were disassembled and then rebuilt into the next year's National Match pistols.

So the fact is that the only ones that remain are ones that were sold to match competitors, and not how many were made. Those that are in absolutely original/totally unmodified conditon for a particular given year are very rare, and therefore valuable. ;)
