I'm trying to establish just a general a baseline as to how much faster my 30" McGowan barrel is (if at all) than the norm for other shorter lengths. I've only owned one other .308 that I didn't keep notes on so I really don't have much of a basis for comparison....Which is where you fellas come in.

The LOad
150g Speer SPBT (yeah I need to order some match bullets)
win case
Wolf Primer
47.0g Varget
COL 2.751" or .010 off the rifling

Velocity 3012 FPS average

I checked my reloading manuals, and for the same weight charge you're gaining 100-150 feet-per-second.

Keep in mind that pretty much the only thing that was the same with my data was was charge of powder.

Probably picking up the extra velocity from the 30" barrel as compared to a 26" barrel.

I was able to pick the brain of someone who used a 308 for let us just say "professional" reasons and his personal rifle wore a 30" barrel for this reason. He was able to get better velocity as well as better hits at 1,000yds.

I run my 155gr SMKs at 2700fps, 20" barrel. 43.6gr Varget/ Fed brass/CCI200/2.780"

Sorry, don't run 150s

My 20" barrel Remmy 700 SPS Tactical will deliver 2600 fps with 168 grain Nosler HPBT. This is with a warm load, Rem brass, 44.5 gr IMR4895, COL of 2.830".

slow powder and long smooth barrel's tend to put up good velocity numbers. While that's a little high I recently crono'd some 155AMAX pills at 2800fps with a 24" bbl and a luke warm loading of AA2520. The Varget seems to work a little better with the heavier bullets IMO. But if that's what your getting run with it.

What twist rate is that bbl?

The closest I have gotten to that load is:
Pac-Nor 28", 10 twist
Lapua brass.
46.5 gr Varget
155 gr Sierra Palma 2850 fps Fed 210M
155 gr Scenar 2954 fps CCI BR

Load .012-.015" off the lands, sorry, I don't have OAL at hand.

Yup, the Scenar was 104 fps faster, unless that CCI primer was a lot hotter than Federal.
