Thought I would finally put all my pieces together on my VEPR K 7.62x39 rifle. VEPR's are pretty heavy, so even though I'm not a big fan of foregrips I got one anyway.
I put some weight in the rear tube and the balance is still off, but it does shoot very nicely.
Does anyone know if Ace recommends staking the castle nut? I was hesitant to do it since there isn't a spacer like on an AR. Maybe I'll just use some Loctite blue.
I know this is a seriously old thread but I'm thinking about doing a little customization on my Vepr and really like how this one turned out.
Mine weights in at 8 lbs, 13 oz with no magazine and 10 lbs, 5.5 oz with a loaded 30 round Tapco mag. Any idea how much weight the M4 stock and forend add vs. the stock furniture?
Wow, that is more than my S12 Loaded with 00 Buck, a light, quad rail, RDS, Light, etc. I think with the loaded 20 round drum and all accessories it was around a 11 pounds.
That is also a very high optic. And as others said I personally would run a different VFG were it mine, for both functional and aesthetic reasons.
I'm not sure the weight of the Ultimak. I tried to find it online but couldn't quickly see anything. I don't want to take mine off to weight it either sorry. The weight is not bad. Depending on what you want to run on the gun there may be better/lighter setups.
I'll have to remove the weighted stock tube and see what it weighs without it. The optic is pretty common on Russian rifles; definitely a bit high but not bad. The Ultimak is fairly light but the stock forend is pretty light too. The optic and mount are fairly heavy (typical Russian industrial design). I'm not thrilled about the foregrip either but it definitely helps with the weight of the forend. The VEPR has a heavy barrel and receiver.
