Howdy Boyz :)
I recently traded at a gun show an obscure gun part for a box of vintage Sierra 200 gr. Match King bullets.
I figured I could make some decent shooting rounds for my Gruning Precision Remy 700 in 30.06 for cheap.
http://www.gruningprecision.com/index.html

So I loaded up 20 rounds with 59.5 gr. of Reloder 22 and headed to the range today. Generating a touch over 2800 fps from a 27" barrel.
The results were quite unexpected :what:
As the photo suggests, at 100 yrds. off the bench there is 4 rds. in virtually one hole.
These old Match King bullets were constructed differently than they are now. The most obvious difference is the jacket is put over the core from tip to base, like mil-spec FMJ bullets. Whereas modern Match King bullets are jacketed from base to tip. It is obvious the meplet on these old MK's is very uniform because of the way the jacket was put over the core. I must say I've never had modern MK's shoot to this level.
So now here's my question.
As I don't think Sierra makes these anymore how long has it been since Sierra has made these types of MK's?
Does anyone know of a source for more of these?
